J.R. Edgett Excavating Ltd. is a locally-owned company that offers all aspects of subdivision and site servicing, road & utilities upgrading, logging road construction, and riverbank / beachfront armouring. We maintain a crew of approximately 20 full time employees, many of whom are long-term, and we have extensive experience in both the public and private sector.
C.V. Hydro-Vac Services is a division of J.R. Edgett Excavating Ltd.
Our hydrovacting system is a safe, productive and non-destructive method of excavating. It uses pressurized water and a vacuum system to safely excavate around utilities and pipelines. Water is pressurized and injected into the ground to safely wash the soil from underground infrastructure. The resulting slurry is simultaneously vacuumed from the excavation through a large debris hose and temporarily stored in a debris tank.
The hydrovac unit is used for various applications in the utility sectors, including day lighting; potholing; excavating; tunneling; pole/piling holes; and exposing sanitary, water and storm lines and mains without incident. Cleaning catch basins (grease interceptors) can be very quick and having the high pressure flush unit to clear blocked leads at the same time saves time and money.
J.R. Edgett Excavating Ltd. is a Comox Valley based business that was incorporated in May 1975. For the 10-year period prior to incorporation, the company was run as a sole proprietorship by owner & operator, John R. Edgett. In 1975, John's brother Ross moved back to the Comox Valley and took on the position of Superintendent. The company grew during the 1980's and soon needed a trusted staff accountant. This position was filled by Jack Hornstein, Chartered Accountant, who is a brother-in-law to Ross and John. By the mid-1990s, Ross needed a full-time superintendent and Bruce Henderson was hired and became a shareholder in the early 2000's.
The company's current directors are Bruce Henderson (Operations Manager), John R. Edgett, Ross Edgett, and Jack Hornstein, CA.
